Certification
is Essential
Diamond
certificates have become an essential part of the
diamond trade. Originally, diamond certificates
were mainly required by professionals, but in
recent years consumer demand is growing steadily
too.
After all, buying a diamond is something special.
Each diamond has its own personality; it is a
unique work of art, made partially by nature and
by human hand. To fully appreciate a stone,
information is needed and this can be found in a
diamond certificate. A certificate is of course
only useful if it is reliable

Certification
is especially important when purchasing better
quality Ideal and Excellent cuts. The superior
brilliance of these cuts is essentially determined
by the inter-relationship between the crown and
pavilion angles.
While there is plenty of
information available on the Internet describing
what dimensional criteria constitutes a superior cut, unfortunately
only three laboratory certificates available in
Australia include these details
The
three laboratories AGS (American Gem
Society) Gem Studies and DCLA (Diamond Certification
Laboratory of Australia) use Sarin Technology. to measure diamonds
extremely accurately.
The Sarin data, especially crown and pavilion angles
are essential in verifying that you are in fact
purchasing a well-cut diamond.
If
you are considering buying a quality diamond with
the very popular GIA certificate always insist on
a Sarin or OGI Megascope report in order to make a
qualified decision.
GIA
and the other certificates do not include crown
and pavilion angles so it is impossible to
determine cut quality.
Diamonds
not certified by DCLA or AGS and where Sarin /OGI data
is not available should be submitted to DCLA or a lab that possesses a Sarin or Ogi
Megascope.
Note:
All IceBrand diamonds including GIA and HRD
certified diamonds have full dimensional (Sarin)
data available.
Using
this data our staff are at your disposal to
undertake visual performance tests on any diamond
using Octonus Diamcalc technology

Sarin Report
A Sarin Report is the
printout of the measured diamond angles, recorded
to the 1/100th of a percentage by a Sarin Machine.
It measures diameter, crown angle, crown height,
pavilion angle, pavilion depth, culet size, table
size, total depth, and girdle thickness.
This report allows the consumer to compare how
well cut a diamond is in relation to the ideal cut
proportions for a diamond.

Ogi Megascope Reports
MEASURING
& ANALYZING...
The Megascope will analyze the following
shapes:
Round (Multi - report analysis), Marquise,
Emerald, Oval, Princess, Radiant, Pear,
Triangle and Heart.
Basic measurement accuracy: 0.015mm.
Properties analyzed: Weight, Diameter, Crown
Angle and Height, Pavilion Angle and Depth,
Culet Size, Cullet Off Center, Table Size,
Table Off Center, Total Depth, Girdle
Thickness and other relevant
characteristics.
When applicable, the properties are measured
and analyzed separately for each and every
facet, and results are given in both
millimeters and percentage.
